A Brewery Visit to Bowigens Beer Company in Casselberry Florida

Bowigens Beer Company is one of the newer breweries to open in Central Florida. When they opened their doors in February of this year I was still back in Denver.

When we got back to Florida I had Bowigens on my beer list. I couldn't wait to check out the new brewery in town. I wanted to go visit many times, but it just never worked out. Finally on a rainy Saturday in Orlando Bryan and I made the visit.

It was a gloomy afternoon that called for day drinking. It was nice to be able to swing by during their Saturday Happy Hour when they offer $1 off their drafts.

When I walked into the tasting room I was a bit surprised. The brewery is in a strip mall and I wasn't expecting much, but the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. It's a smaller brewery, but we had plenty of seating options. They have seating at the bar and a handful of tables as well as a sofa area.

We bellied up to the bar and soon discovered our "neighbors" are regulars at Bowigens. Both groups had many nice things to say about the brewery.

Bryan tried a few samples and picked out Omne Trium Perfectum a Belgian Tripel. I took a little more time checking out all their beers trying to figure out what ones I wanted in my beer flight.

I ended up with a nice variety. I got their Toasted Almond Brown Ale (American Brown Ale 7%ABV), Omne Trium Perfectum (Belgian Tripel 9.7% ABV) 7 Layer Stout (Milk Stout 5.2% ABV) and a Lost Anchor (IPA 6.1% ABV)

I thought they were all very good beers and enjoyed them all. I really liked the IPA. My favorite out of the flight was the Tripel. I also got to sample a mix of the Stout and the Brown Ale.  They call it a Stalmond. I really enjoyed that too. My new bar "friend" was enjoying drinking a pint of that.

While I was enjoying my flight Bryan got an Imperial Honey Red. This double red comes in at 8% ABV and is full of flavor. I liked it a lot and will have to come back to enjoy my own glass.

While we were there they had six of their beers on tap along with a couple of guests. They also have a good bottle selection that is priced nicely.

Check out their website for their weekly specials and events. I'd like to come back on a Wednesday when they pull out their Randall. The crafty creations they come up with sound wonderful.

I had a great visit at Bowigens. They are making some tasty Florida craft beer that's worth the drive out to Casselberry. This hidden gem is a favorite among many who live nearby and it's easy to see why. I'm only sorry it took me a while to come visit.
