A Brewery Visit to Red Cypress Brewery in Winter Springs Florida

I have never been to Winter Springs. That's what's great about breweries, they entice you to go out and explore new areas. I finally made it to Winter Springs once Red Cypress Brewery opened up.

Red Cypress Brewery is located in a small strip mall. Walking in I was surprised at how large the tasting room was. It's one of the bigger breweries I've been too. Space is nice if you're looking to come with a big group of friends. There is a large patio to enjoy your beers as well.

I bellied up to the bar and asked my server what was his favorite and he gave me a glass of their saison, Fruit De La Terre (7% ABV).  I could see why he picked this.  It's brewed with Florida orange peels, so there is a nice aroma along with a citrusy taste. It's got the farmhouse yeast in it makes for a tasty beer.

I was surprised to see so many options on the beer menu.  There are enough styles that everyone in your group should find one that pleases them. Chatting with our server, it was fun to hear some backstory and Florida history about a few of the beer names. I had no idea what a death roll was! I can't believe that. That's the Yankee in me.

After enjoying my farmhouse ale, I wanted to get a better taste of their beers so we got a flight. You can pick any five beers for your flight. They have these handy laminated menus to write on. I liked that we picked our beers and they have arranged them in order of how they should be enjoyed.

The beers in my flight consisted of Flamingose (4% ABV),  The End is Rye session IPA (4.8% ABV), Spook Hill Pale Ale (5.4% ABV), Death Roll Stout (4% ABV) and Ol' Senator imperial stout (9% ABV). It was a good mix of beers. I enjoyed them all with my favorites being The End is Rye and Death Roll Stout.  The End is Rye is a delicious Summit & Simcoe hoppy beer. Death Roll was a creamy and chocolaty delight.

I will continue to travel for beer and I hope on my next visit I can do a bit more exploring in the area and see Big Tree Park where Ol' Senator once stood.

If you're looking to check them out take note that Thursdays they have "Trucks & Trivia" with trivia and a different food truck each week.  Most Saturday nights there will be food truck out front. If you happen to visit when there's not a food truck and you get hungry there is a Mexican restaurant next door. You can also bring in food.
