A Brewery Visit to The Hourglass Brewery in Longwood Florida

I enjoyed beers at The Hourglass Brewery is its original location, which was one the smallest brewery I have been to. Their new location is probably one the largest I've visited. It's night and day between the two.

The strip mall where the brewery is located is usually hopping. I was surprised to see so many cars and people. I was even more surprised when I walked into the tasting room and saw how big it was. There is large wrap around bar on one end and rows of community tables on the other. A large stage for live entertainment takes up the rest of the space.

I watched the brewery fill up throughout the night. It was a happening spot that Friday night. A few folks were catching the hockey game on their big screens. Others were grabbing food from the restaurants next door and enjoying a beer with their meal. Most were just having a good time drinking beer and hanging with friends.

The Hourglass Brewery has A LOT of beer to choose from. They have 25 of their beers on tap along with a few of their bottles to choose from. Then there are hundreds of guest bottles to choose from as well. The electronic screens were hard for me to read the tap menu. I found I was better off taking a picture of the tap list and enlarging the photo so I could read the descriptions. You can see what's on tap on their website. They also have nice descriptions of the beer too.

While the beer selection is impressive I came to Hourglass to enjoy their beers. We met up with some friends who are regulars and I asked them for suggestions. I always do a flight on first visits and this one consisted of: Put De Lime In De Coconut, Plantation Grove, Barista's Last Call, Sabor De Bandito & Texican Red.

This was a nice varied flight of beers. A couple of Berliner Weisse's, Brown Ale, American Pale Ale and an Amber Red. I really enjoyed the two Weisse beers. I found them to be a great beer to enjoy for the Florida heat. Put De Lime In De Coconut was delicious with its tart key lime balanced with the sweet coconut. Barista's Last Call was a tasty beer as well. It smelled wonderful with a nice coffee aroma. This beer is brewed with coffee from Lineage Craft Coffee, a local roaster in town.

I wasn't sure about the Texican Red. I like chili beers, but I'm not a fan of a smoky flavored beer. Bryan liked it much better than I did.

It was a fun night drinking Florida craft beers with friends. It's great to see how far The Hourglass Brewery has come since they first opened. They serve up some tasty Florida craft beer in a fun setting. It's nice to have such options in Central Florida.

It's a nice brewery to enjoy beers with friends. It's a family friendly brewery and the food next door is a nice bonus.

Florida Gulf Coast Breweries

Take the drive down Florida's Gulf Coast and enjoy some Florida craft Beer.

These are breweries I've been to located along Florida's west coast. It's my favorite coast because I'm a sucker for a beautiful sunset and they can't be beaten over the Gulf.

Breweries start in Dunedin and make their way south to Sarasota. You can find my list of Tampa area breweries here.

A Brewery Visit to Tampa Beer Works in Tampa Florida

My first visit to Tampa Beer Works wasn't a planned one. After that first visit, I made sure to plan another visit as soon as I was back in the area.

I hadn't heard much about Tampa Beer Works. I had it bookmarked to visit and wanted to come by a couple of times, but their open hours never worked out for us.

My first visit to the brewery was after Bryan and I had stopped for beers at Coppertail. Tampa Beer Works was quick 15-minute drive east on 60 and then up a couple of miles in an industrial area. Nestled in the back of all these warehouses sits the brewery.

They are on the smaller size of a brewery, a more intimate and cozy space so to say. You'll find seating in and out. We opted to sit outside with our pup.

They have a nice variety of beers on tap including some guest taps. Great prices too 👍

My first visit I went with a beer flight while hubs got a full pour. I thought all my beers were delicious, but what really stood out was their Joosy Froot IPA.

This beer smells just like Juicy Fruit gum. It's sweet and juicy, but not too sweet. Balanced out with grapefruit. This may be my favorite IPA in Florida right now.

Our second visit was a quick trip. They were closing early on Superbowl so we begged and pleaded to get a growler of Joosy Fruit to go.

My next visit I will probably enjoy another flight just so I can try a handful of their beers. I'm sure I'll be bringing back some Joosy Froot too. I hear their Saint Bosco IPA is just as tasty!

Tampa Beer Works is a very simple brewery with some great beer. If you are making your way along I-4 or I-75 take a beer tour and enjoy a flight. You won't be disappointed. You'll probably end up bringing some beer home with you.🍻

A Brewery Visit to Redlight Redlight in Orlando Florida

Your neighborhood bar, sometimes you get lucky with it and sometimes you just deal with what's been handed to you. My neighborhood bar is a pretty damn good one and they brew their own beer to boot👍

Redlight Redlight has been around since 2005, but they have only been in their current location in Audubon Park since the summer of 2014. That is when I first started to frequent the place.

Redlight Redlight  in Audubon Park Garden District
Redlight Redlight's location in Orlando's Audubon Park Garden District makes for a great spot to do some exploring before enjoying a few beers.  Since they don't open till five it's a nice way to kill some time and see the local side to Orlando. All of the shops and eateries in the neighborhood are locally owned, no chains here.

While you will only find a couple (sometimes three) of RR beers on tap, those beers are always changing. No matter how many times I come in there's usually a different beer on tap. They brew some delicious sour beers and it's fascinating to me to see how they can vary each beer. If sour beers aren't your thing no worries as they have a great selection of 26 beers on tap and over 250 bottles. They have wine too.

Recently they've partnered with the Florida Hops Consortium and brewed a beer with Florida grown hops that will be bottled. The proceeds from this sale will go back to supporting the growth of hops here in Florida. I got to try some of this beer and it was 👍

Most nights you can find a food truck at Redlight. Hubs and I have been enjoying stopping by on Fridays when Sushi & Seoul are there.
Redlight Redlight always has some fun event going on too. Making a visit even more enticing.

A great spot for large groups or a date night. If you love beer you will fall in love with Redlight Redlight. See for yourself whey they consistently get rated one of the best beer bars 🍻

Visit Orlando For Beer

Visiting Orlando? Looking to hit a couple of breweries? I frequently get asked what breweries to visit when coming to Orlando. The brewery scene in Central Florida is a bit spread out. Having been a visitor to Orlando for many years before we made the move down in 2011 I know that time is valuable when you're on vacation or attending a convention. This itinerary is a way to get in as much of the local craft beer scene as you can in one evening.

lake eola water fountain

If you have an evening to spend drinking here are my four suggestions. This is easy access off of I-4 about thirty minutes from Walt Disney World. All the spots are a couple of miles apart.

The first stop is at The Ravenous Pig. This local eatery houses Cask & Larder brewery. I always enjoy stopping by during Happy Hour.

They are open for lunch as well. If you have the time swing by in the early afternoon and make your way over to the lovely Park Avenue afterward.

Next stop is at Redlight Redlight. They brew some delicious sour beers. While they only have two or three of their own beers on tap they have an impressive selection of craft beer on draft, cans & bottles.

They don't open till 5. Come by a little early and check out the award winning neighborhood it resides in.

Next stop is up the road to Ten10 Brewing Company. They have a nice variety of beers on tap. Their Case of the Mondays weekly tapping make going out for beers on Monday worth it. They have some tasty food too.👍

Last stop is at GB's Bottle Shop. This is a great place is you want to stock up on some beers to take home. They have 20 beers on draft that you can enjoy there or take a growler fill home with you. Their draft menu and bottle list are posted online and Untappd.

There are many other breweries and craft beer spots to check out in Central Florida. I hope you get to enjoy some local craft beer when you're in town.🍻

Cheers!

Florida's East Coast Breweries

Take the drive along I-95 and take a visit to a Florida brewery or two.

Here are breweries in Florida located on Florida's East Coast that I have been able to check out. If you have a question about any of the breweries I have visited please ask. I have a contact form on my blog. I feel that every brewery has something to offer. Some may have better beer, but others may have a unique atmosphere. Go out and explore Florida's craft beer scene and see which ones will become your favorite watering hole
